PRESENTATION NOTES with Alison Ritchie and Avril Clark:
BANCHORY COMMUNITY LEARNING on 29th October 2009.

The meeting were informed that Banchory Community Learning covers Banchory Schools Network area and covers all age groups – from what was Surestart to Youth and the over 50’s. The initiative is run in partnership with Aberdeen College and seeks:

Achievement for adults

Achievement for children

Community Capability Building (through learning)

Courses are available on various topics including Literacy, Numeracy and teaching English as a second language. There are currently a number of people enrolled on the English language course.

Volunteers are sought to assist in various areas.

Various groups are run in Banchory some of which are:

Bands Group

Pink Panther Group for girls

Duke of Edinburgh Scheme

Youth Forum

Well child clinic

A question about transport to the various groups from outlying areas was raised. The meeting was informed that none existed at the present time but if a suggestion were made it would be looked into with a possible arrangement agreed to in the future.
