Feughdee West Community Council

Dilys Hudson

Profile

Although I was born and brought up in Ayrshire, I moved to the area 17 years go, after spending most of my adult life in Surrey. I feel passionately that what rural aspect of Strachan is left should be preserved and I am committed to this aim.

Sadly we have lost our church, and our post office/store. As a member of the Community Council I am conscious that we need to do whatever it takes to encourage young families not just to come here to live, but to send their children to the village school, and by doing so, secure its future, and that of the community.

I am also concerned with the general safety of villagers, especially that of road safety. The volume, noise, and speed of traffic through the village are all on the increase, particularly at weekends. Although there has been some recent improvement in signage, more needs to be done. The erection and positioning of traffic-calming measures continue to be under review by Aberdeenshire Council.
